Who operates SafeShare
SafeShare is an independent project operated under the SafeShare name. This policy covers the SafeShare Android image editor. The website has a separate browser privacy notice.
Photos and local processing
You choose one photo through Android’s system photo picker. SafeShare reads the selected image, its display name and available folder information on your device. Image pixels, metadata, recognized English text, face detections, search queries, edit decisions and previews stay on your device. They are not uploaded or shared with SafeShare or third parties.
Network, analytics and permissions
The Android app has no internet permission, advertising, analytics, accounts or billing. OCR and face models are bundled and run locally. It does not request broad photo-library or storage access. Opening the contact website is an explicit action handled by your browser; ordinary website request logs and any report you submit follow the website privacy notice. No photo or editing data is attached.
Retention, saving and deletion
Editing jobs and previews are held in memory and are not saved for recovery. Starting another image or ending the session disposes of that job on a best-effort basis, not cryptographic erasure. Save photo creates a new PNG without overwriting the original. On Android 10 or later it uses the original shared folder when accessible, otherwise Pictures/SafeShare. These saved photos remain until you delete them through your photo or file app. Android 9 uses app-owned external Pictures, which is removed on uninstall. Your original image is unchanged. SafeShare disables Android app backup.
Security and limitations
SafeShare rebuilds PNG pixels, removes source metadata and checks the output before saving. Detection is experimental and can miss private details; review the image and add manual covers. Solid Cover is the strongest option. Blur and Pixelate are visual obfuscation and are not irreversible redaction. Outputs are not certified or guaranteed safe.
